Special Mumbai Judge MG Deshpande, nominated for hearing of cases registered under the Money Revision Redressal Act (PMLA), dismissed ED's request for eight days in his custody for eight days and dismissed it as it was not necessary to ask for such a long haerasat for checking the money. The court said that the bank statement of his wife, the mark attached to Varsha, can be examined.

Sanjay Raut was arrested after being questioned for more than eight hours at his Bhandup residence in connection with the Patra Chawl Redevelopment Project. The ED also seized Rs 11.50 lakh from the house during the search. Before approaching the special judge, Sanjay Raut said that it is an attempt to finish us off". At his request for the hirasat of the Shiv Sena leader, ED's counsel Hiten Venegaonkar said that Sanjay Raut and a member of his family were the direct beneficiaries of Rs 112 crore to Rs 1.06 crore earned by a real estate developer and former director of Guruashish Construction Pravin Raut who was arrested on February 2.

Vennegaonkar said, "Praveen Raut was the front-man of Sanjay Raut. The agency has traced rs 1.06 crore received from Praveen Raut and claimed that Sanjay Raut's wife Varsha had bought 10 land parcels near Alibaug in Kihim. The name of his husband or wife and the amount of paid in the cash is 60 to 70%. Venegaonkar also alleged that Sanjay Raut received a monthly payment of Rs 2 lakh from Pravin Raut, who sponsored several foreign trips of the Shiv Sena leader and his family. The ED counsel said that Sanjay Raut tried to tamper with the evidence and threatened prominent witnesses. Senior advocate Ashok Mundargi, representing the Rajya Sabha member, refuted the ED's allegations and claimed that Sanjay Raut has been arrested for political vendetta.

What Did Sanjay Raut's Lawyer Say-

Advocate Dharma Mishra, counsel for Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, has said that the ED has no evidence against Sanjay Raut in the sessions court that ed officials or lawyers can present in the court. Due to lack of evidence, ed wanted 8 days custody, but the court has granted custody to ED only till August 4. ED does not have any evidence to involve Sanjay Raut and his wife in the Patra Chawl scam case. The accused in this case, Pravin Raut, who is a relative of Sanjay Raut, who has been dealing with the money, has been transferred from the bank, then the talk of money laundering comes from the bank? There is no role in Sanjay Raut or his family's character chawl. Even then ED can do it if it thinks it has to be asked. Neither us nor our client Sanjay Raut has any clue, but don't make the wrong allegations. He said, "If the name of our Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was on the envelope of 10 lakh cash and Rs 1.5 lakh found on Sanjay Raut's house, then why don't the ED officials ask chief minister Eknath Shinde why don't they ask chief minister Eknath Shinde? Our case in court is absolutely clear. We have full faith in the court process.
